All about me…
Is it possible to write about one’s self truly? I know my roles–wife, mother, cat-feeder, chef (okay, cook)–but they have little to do with who I am.
I can tell you I have three English degrees, and I have taught English at the college level since 1993. I have written a dissertation, four full-length plays, two YA novels, and a non-fiction(?) book detailing ghost stories from SE Kansas. I have also written some moderately bad poetry (and some people would say “too much” bad poetry). Yet none of these things are who I am, either.
I suppose who I am is still a mystery to me. I am still discovering, day by day, the idealism, creativity, and passion that flow through me. Each day I follow a path towards some unseen wholeness, and IĀ grasp anything that helps me take the next step.
I may discover some day I had far less to offer the world than I had once supposed.
But I don’t think so…or I wouldn’t write at all.

Regarding your comment to my body wrap experience (sorry, i dont know how to reply any other way! lol) - it’s not THAT temporary. it’s definitely not painful. It is not all water weight, it is actually a lot of chemicals and toxins being removed from your body. They actually tell you to drink a ton of water so i dont really see how it can be 100% water weight. I loved it and would do it every 6 months if i had the money. They suggest doing it every month, but it’s pretty expensive to do it every single month!! i do recommend trying it though.
oh and BTW that is Extremely impressive that you have THREE English degrees, I cant even imagine. I Love English, would love to have been an English and Choir teacher, but couldnt handle the schooling that went along with it. You sound like an amazing woman!
Hey, thanks for your comments on my blog. Three English degrees? I’m guessing BA, MA and PhD? I’m curious! Teaching at the college level must be amazing. I always wanted to teach adults, but haven’t seemed to get above primary and high school.
I loved checking out your site - lots of great posts.
Hate to break character, but I wanted to thank you for fueling me on my new blog, story thing. While I enjoy writing out Stori’s story for my own pleasure, it’s nice to know I have someone else that’s reading it. Three English degrees, huh? No wonder your posts look so good! My goal is to get something published, too, one day. I’ve been submitting articles to various magazines and have been working on a rather complex fiction story for a few years now. It’s gotten really long and I’m sure I’ll have to split it up into a series by the time it’s done! In the meantime, Stori is just a character I’ve had in my head for a little while now and putting her in blog form just makes it more fun for me. Thank you for your comments and support and I’ll try my best not to disappoint.
